>Attended a nice demo this morning by Doug Trembath, professional turner. Among the many tips he shared was how to safely round off a bowl blank on the bandsaw:
After the log section has been split to create a blank with one reasonably flat side, loosely nail a round plywood template to the bark side. Place the blank flat side down (bark and template up) on the bandsaw, and just cut around the template.
