Drawer runners

Bill Tindall, E.Tn.

I don't finish plane much but drawer runners are the exception. A hand planed hard maple surface, then waxed, and the drawer glides as though frictionless. Thankfully, a close set cap iron resulted in successful tear out-free surfaces for the drawer to slide on. The next step is to power plane to final thickness. I mark the side to be planed so I don't get confused as the pieces breeze through the power planer.

Drawer blades ready for installation are in the back ground.
