Toomakers and the Unicorn Profile

I wonder if any of the toolmakers (LN, LV, etc) have noticed any of the work we're doing, especially in regard to chisels.
Over on the australian forum, a fellow posted what looks like a hardware store chisel ground almost to a razor bevel (and presumably it was before) and has found favorable results so far.
I haven't yet run into anyone who has tried the method and not found at least some significant success.
