Clamps fit in a dovetail shaped groove. The ads tout the ability to add clamping anywhere you can rout a groove without the expense of t track. Search for microjig matchfit.

JMO - While the clamps are relatively lightweight, they appear to be more than strong enough to stress the groves in which they reside. The add-on clamp pad seems to work well - at least at the drill press (where all my experience with the clamps resides.)
A singles clamp holds a poplar bench leg in place for mortise drilling.
