>I use High Linoleic Acid safflower oil instead of BLO for just about everything. is a superb drying oil and is used in quality oil paints. It does not tend to mildew or yellow. It dries slower, but you can instant dry it by heating it carefully over a burner. It is also food safe and smells better than BLO.
If the nutritional label has Polyunsaturated fat as a much higher number (11 to 2 or so) than Monounsaturated fat then it is the right stuff. The other safflower oil (High Oleic Acid) will have the opposite ratio. I get the stuff in the oil section at Kroger's.
I have seen the High Oleic Acid Safflower Oil with a brag saying it was high in Linoleic Acid. It is compared to other stuff, but check the nutritional label to be sure you have the right stuff.
As a further note, the tool I made is horrible. A scratch shave without a fence is pretty much worthless as far as I can tell, so don't make one just like it!
