Carving Classes

>Would someone point me in the right direction? I'm looking for wood carving (bird preferred) classes or groups in the Memphis/Cordova/Bartlett area of Western Tennessee. I took classes while in Boston MA and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have the tools and the desire... but need the added guidance -

I would check with Colco and the woodworking place over off Stage (hwy 64 - near Wolfchase mall). They sometimes offer classes and there was a carving group that met there I think. I have taken carving classes, but I had to go to Boston! You might also pick up a copy of WoodCarving Magazine at Barnes & Noble. They might have a list of resources or perhaps a forum online? My interests are in furniture accent type carving, so I don't keep up with the other stuff much. Anyway, good luck.

>I did a query on "wood carving class memphis tn" and got several interesting results. One is for an art institute, so I'd check there first. Another is for a woodworking group. I'd also check with Woodcraft, who often have carving classes and the like here. At least they could refer you.

>you might check and see if there is a local wood carvers association. I know we have one here and we are a smaller comunity then wher you are. can probably get free one on one training with a local carver or at a greatly reduced cost to regular calsses
