Badger Pond CD

I bought the CD when BP was closing down. In fact I have two copies, one is an updated version (a point which will become apparent in a moment - just pre-empting a query).
It is great reading the threads, and I often return to them - sometimes for the valuable insights that are contained therein, and sometimes as it is like visiting old friends. There are many names that are now regulars on WC, but there are also many who have disappeared (and are neither on another forum).
I changed laptop about 12-18 months ago. Still using Windows XP, but now I have this speedy Duo processor. Still on a Sony. They have been reliable.
Here is the issue - the BP CD will not run on the new machine. I still have the old laptop (kept as a backup) and the CD runs perfectly well on this. On the new laptop I can access most of the CD but the search engine fails to find any forum data. Switch machines and it is back. It makes no difference whether I copy the CD to the harddrive or run it directly.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Anyone have advice what can be done to run the CD on my new(ish) machine?
