Knowing about Chris through his blog, contributions here and articles makes the read more fun but I do know I would love this book even without this prior knowledge. It is well written and logical in the teachings. The presentation and diagrams are excellent. I love seeing the beautiful planes that are disgracefully :) displayed about the work bench. I saw LN, LV, Wayne Anderson tools I'm not sure who made the other beauties.

I haven't seen the DVD yet.

Overall I think this is a great book for thoughtful functionality in approaching a bench. It's also a great read. Definitely a must have for any library.

Chris methodically justifies his decisions for every beam, joint, surface, vice, dog, and hole required for your ultimate workbench. Kinda ruins the pride i once had in my bench. To think of all the time i spent building a high end copy of your standard bench when I could have built a bench that worked.

I think the personality behind the writing also adds tremendously to the readability of this book. And to satisfy the beautiful bench shot buyer, nary a bench is shown without a high dollar plane of well seasoned antique tool strategically placed on it or in the background. I�d give it 5 stars.

I agree wholeheartedly as Chris has earned it. I ordered mine from the site and I hear it's on the way to me now. Plus, you get his autograph on it (although given his normal humility/good humor, he asked if this would actually devalue the book?!).

Lots of info that has not been published in the magazines and the manner in which the information is presented allows the reader to really use it as an irreplaceable tool when it comes to designing your first/next bench!

Nothing against drunken gorillas, mind you.

If anyone wants my book signed (or anything else: magazines, undergarments, small pieces of cheese etc.) just send 'em to me at the magazine. I'll sign it and mail it back to you.

I couldn't have written that book without a lot of support and help from people on this board (you know who you are) and people who buy our magazines.
