Studley Chest - Contents/Legend?
Ryan Stagg - Cincinnati
>Someone bought me the Studley tool chest poster as a gift sometime back, and it's adorned my office wall across from me ever since. Since I stare at it only in times of work frustration, I've naturally memorized almost every nook.
I'm surprised that it's been discussed so little net-wide - few questions, fewer answers. I expected to find a legend describing the contents, but there's none to be found.
Seeing as it's the 'Peerless' tool chest, I'm surprised that a WC search didn't turn up more - I only found three mentions on the hand tools forum.
So: 'Anyone ever ID'd the more difficult pieces? The three round, brass discs above the Masonic symbol have confounded me. Also, the seemingly telescoping tubes on the upper right escape me (story sticks?). And why at least four separate - but seemingly identical - marking gauges? Any tools anyone can identify as specific to the piano-building trade? Would he have had a separate saw till?
