W.F. & John Barnes made all sorts of foot-powered machinery. Down below is the OWWM page for Barnes: Click on the 4th link under "Barnes Resources" to find the foot-powered mortiser. Slick looking piece of gear, if you ask me. I have heard that anything made by Oliver was also excellent, but don't have personal knowledge.

>A foot mortiser will certainly put a strain on your knees; but should work fine with a motor adaptation. I think the only other option would be a desktop machine, which I didn't much enjoy; but it wasn't that bad, pretty good workers (I used them in the CC courses, don't own one).
