Making wooden hinges

>Well I tried my hand at a couple of wooden hinges for a box. They work OK but I think that they are too chunky. I'd love to see those made by others for inspiration and guidance.
The box was the basic shell that I built for the Veritas Small Router Plane review (see a couple of weeks ago). The main wood was from a Paulownia tree I cut down. Additional wood, for the lid, lining and hinges was recycled scrap Jarrah. Everything here was untouched by machine (with the exception of a bandsaw - is this not a handtool?) - which is one reason why I felt hand-made hinges were in order. Oh well ...

I can see I forgot to fill the guide holes. I drilled through the hinges, and then added screws from the other side. These were then covered by the lining.
