>I was checking out the new Lee Valley woodworking catalog cover in detail last night and was wondering -- did anyone else notice the chisel plane made out of a frog??? Very ingenious little bugger.

>Lee Valley catalog covers are always great. *Sure* would be cool if they made the images available online for screen savers...hint, hint. -Wayne

I just happened to have my catalog beside the bed

>for some reason, so I went and looked.

I remember noticing that clever little home-made chisel plane, but failed to notice the source of the casting on top. Hmmm. Looks like it might be a frog from a transitional plane. And I happen to have one. This might get added to the round tuit list.

Doggone it. The list's long enough already.

Back in the Badger Pond daze...

Scott Burr in Ben Lomond CA

>Someone posted about this little critter. It is made out of a modified frog. The blade adjuster still does the adjusting, but like a plow planes mechanism. the frog mounting holes are used to hold a plate with a thumb screw to secure the blade. I have a large pic of it somewhere; I'll try to dig it up so everyone can get a better look at it. Not a chisel plane so to speak, but a groving plane.

Wouldn't that be a PLOW plane?

Depends *LINK*

>Those who were parents at a particular time will wonder why you need a plane to make a Sesame Street character.

This was the grover I was thinking of
