>I had a long talk with Paul a few weeks back at the LFOD auction, mostly about scrapers and scraper blades (consensus: thinner is better, you always want some flex)...the inserts are still a few weeks off but coming up maybe before Halloween....had a chance to play with the new design and I gotta say...It certainly is a winner...solid as a rock and the adjustments are spot on...I especially like the use of the spring instead of the inner capture nut, don't know why someone at Stanley didn't think of that modification. I'm thinking of modifying some of my scrapers to use the spring. The one he had on display was the Bedrock design and installed in a Bedrock #7. I'll drop mine (regular model)into a garden variety 7 and/or 6. Will report back on my observations. It will ship with a blade but there's no stopping you from making your own. Can't say how many saws I've carved up over the years...best ones to use: Atkins silver steel, they make perfect scraper blades.

I do have somewhat of a scraper fetish...

also had a chance to see some more of his miniature work...the small router is a BLAST!!! a lot prettier than the lowly Stanley #271 and easier to use....sweet!

Paul's recommendation was any stock spring that wasn't too heavy...not a lot to go on but I figure I'll bring one of my 12's with me (dismantled)and do a quick assembly to see what works best...I have a store near me ...the nutty company which has a wide variety of springs...hopefully they'll have something that will work..
