Nobex Japanese saw blade *LINK*

>While poking around to diagnose some issues I have had with my Nobex, I came across the Nobex Japanese Sawblade. How curious! I have had some serious reservations about their blades, I wonder if this one is any good? Anyone tried it?

>Don't know for certain. But I did have a NOBEX saw with two NOBEX blades. They were about as sharp as the teeth on a plastic picnic knife. In fact the coarse blade took approx. 75 strokes to saw through a piece of softwood 1X4 molding and the fine blade over 125 strokes to do the same.
I sold the NOBEX because of that. The blades were case hardened, thus could not be sharpened. (at least by me) If the Japanese blades cut even half as well as a cheap Japanese saw, they will work miracles with the Nobex, if your Nobex blades are as dull as mine were.

My only point is that when I have used any blades of this sort, designed for bowsaws originally for euro style blades, they normally adopt the most agressive softwood tooth you will ever see. As mentioned, it might be an improvement, but it is often a little agressive and rough for what it might be. Most to the point, probably best for softwood.
