Check your handles!

>This is the last weekend at the Park for the season and I was helping demonstrate building construction. We are restoring an original pioneer log building, replacing the rotted lower logs, sill plate, joists and floor boards.
I was chopping a tenon on the end of a joist when the head flew off the handle on the upswing and hit me in the back. Fortunately the sharp end did not strike me and when I couldn't feel or see any blood, I breathed a sigh of relief.
Check your handles and make sure the heads are tight. Who said hand tools were less dangerous?
