I use www.esnipe.com from time to time. Works great 24/7. Been using it for about a year with no problems. It's perfectly safe. You can still be outbid if you don't place a high enough bid, but you don't have to sit at your computer trying to outsnipe someone else. You only pay a small fee for the auctions you win.

But I never bid on Ebay, nor do I have a PayPal account, I've heard too many scary/irritating stories to bother. Besides, I haven't run out of ways to spend money on tools... Ask Rob Lee...

There's a program called JBidWatcher that will snipe for you. It's free, and it runs on Mac and Windows. It has nice features like syncing up with your My eBay list of watched items, and auto-subtracting shipping fees from your total bid amount, if the seller posts them.

I use it on my Mac. What I do is decide how much I would pay for the item, set the snipe, and walk away. If I get outbid, I'll know that I wouldn't have paid more anyway. Another item will come up. It always does.

Of course, I'm probably shooting myself in the foot by showing people a free, easy way to snipe on eBay. :@)

I use Hammersnipe, the free service. Used it many times, and it always works. I recommend it without reservation.

Here's the thing: the snipers don't know your max. bid. They don't know you're beside the computer at the close. They may be sound asleep or mowing the grass when the auction ends. They just know what they're willing to pay for the item. That's the only 'secret' of sniping, is to put a max. bid in there that you're willing to win with, or lose with.

Now if you put your max. bid in early, then sure as little green apples, somebody is gonna come along and dog your bid, and start pecking away at you. That's why you want to snipe: You can put in your real max. bid, and not get pecked at. But you only get one shot.

Or just pull the trigger on a new LN, or LV or Clifton? After all, after you clean the Bedrock, you'll probably put in a new blade or chipbreaker and with the initial cost, you'll be knocking on the door of new anyway!

If a want something I just put my bid in the sniper and ignore it - I eitgher win or I don't. I used to get hung up in the emotions of bidding and overpay. Plus, this has the advantage that you can change your mind before the auction ends.

I bid under a differant name than I sell I don't want my friends getting pissed cause I stole somthing from them. I would like others have said if you want somthing soecial I would check with Walt or Jim or one of the other local interned dealers These guys are nice sell a good product at a fair price. Or you can come right out and tell us what you are looking for. #2,3,4,5,5 1/4, 51/2,6.7,8 did I miss any of cours you are looking for the 60 series but if you say which you want some one may e-mail you and say I got an extra want it for this $ I e-mail people all the time telling them I have a peice of crap what ever they are looking for cheep.

You are playing the bid game that gets you into trouble.

Pick the highest price you are willing to pay, bid it, and forget it.

If you win, your got it at what ever the best price is up to the full amount you are willing to go, otherwise, you wouldn't win anyway.

I've seen items go for 3 or 4 times what their worth, because people start playing the bidding game.

Reason for this: I want to keep my selling name as clean as possible, ie will bend over backwards not to get a negative. Buyer's account: someone wants to treat me like dirt, I'll neg them, and of course they will return the favor.
