Oh, how I hate getting Sniped!

>I figured since I just lost yet ANOTHER (in a long series of) Ebay auction for Bedrock, I can gripe here.
Here I am with 20 seconds to go. I'm the high bidder and I've got two windows opened on my screen. One with the auction results, which I refresh every second. The other with a higher bid entered into the box and all set to input. All I need to do is push the button and send it.
With 2 SECONDS left someone swoops in and nabs it for $2 more than my highest bid. How the hell are you supposed to combat that?
During a recent email conversation, Jim Reed told me there was EBAY Snipe Software that does just what I was describing. After doing a search on Google, I found a site. But I'm really hesitant about using it. You need to register and give them your Ebay account info. That scares me right off the bat. Plus I feel that the idea of this software is a bit on the shady side. It almost sounds illegal. Doesn't it?
From what I've gathered in my discussions with more seasoned "Ebay-ers", I should get used to loosing A LOT of auctions. I can handle that. But the competition using that software just plain freaks me out! Anybody else feel the same way I do?
See ya around,
Dominic
