45s and Bad Wood (Gloat)

>Friend of a friend contacted me and said he had a funky plane he inherited but it wasn't working right - something was terribly wrong.
Went over there and he had a decent 45, but was trying it out on a knotty piece of old pallet oak and his patience was long since gone. Tried to explain what the problem was, but he was too far over the edge and never wanted to see the thing again. Asked me what I would give him for it and I said I didn't really want it because I had a few and I told him to sell it on ebay. He asked if I would give him $20 (had all the cutters and parts) and I said OK. Then I felt guilty and gave him $40 (all I had on me) while repeating he could get more on ebay. He said he would take a hammer to it if it wasn't out of his sight in 5 minutes.
Go figure.
