Question re Clifton shoulder/ Rabbit plane

>How does the Clifton stack up to the LN or LV shoulder planes? My brother who lost a woodshop in a fire a few years ago is having a double nickel birthday soon and I thought I might suprise him with one.

LN is less expensive than the cheapest Clifton I could find on line.

There are 4 or 5 LN planes in the tool shrine, all really nice, and much appreciated, but there's nothing wrong with the LV models, either. At least consider one of those.
