The future is here much sooner than we expect. I know it will be tough to quit, and I suggest that you don't try to do it for anyone else except yourself. My wife's grandmother also smoked, and her last days were not very pleasant either, and probably cut much shorter than they should have been. But still, it is a personal choice. If someone wants to spend thousands of dollars to give themselves a slow and painful last days on earth, that is their choice. I think the hip word currently is "stupid tax", although I may still be behind the times.

Moses, is telling it like it is, and I like that, as much as I myself like telling it like it is. There are numerous reasons I had decided to quit. First and formost for my future health. As Moses has said, some old smokers don't have pleasant last days, and I don't want to be one of them. Secondly, because I don't want to be addicted, and thus controlled by them nor anything else any longer. hyow stupid can any one be to allow themselves to allow the cig makers to make addicts and thus "slaves" out of us. I've got two words for them, but can only say one of them in Ellis' house and that one is OFF!!! Nextly, once again as Moses has said, all these taxes that keep getting added to smokers is absolutely absurd, and I don't like being forced to finance programs that I don't, or wouldn't voluntarily support.

Now Kevin, as much as I'd love to have a dump found #1, I'll have to refuse that offer. Sell it off and put the green in an education account account for one of your children/grandchildren, whatever the case may be. Now, if you happen to finds a nice Champion Forge post drill, well than Wilbur, that's a human of a different color. ;~)

But I think the biggest reason is that you no longer have to put down the plane to take another puff. A few more minutes a day with tools in our hands are a few more good minutes.

>Yeah Bill, you are absolutely correct. Heck, I remember when as a teenager one of my brothers girlfriends whom smoked Winston Lights and just how much they stunk. Just yesterday while at the flea market and looking at junk the smell if cigs was everywhere and in one case I had to leave the vendors area because both he and another guy where smoking.

I did finally break down and put a patch on at about 4 p.m. last night to cure a ponding headache. I had a feeling that the headache was induced by the lack of nicotine, so I put a patch on, and sure enough it went away. So, I didn't make it all day without a patch like I was thinking I might, but hey, still not bad. I'm sure that I killed many many thousands of Nico-monsters before finally having to feed some of them.

So, this is another side benefit of quitting smoking that I had forgotten about, no more cig stink, and as I think it was Bill mentioned the reduction of possible shop fire. Good one Bill.

Went out this a.m. to find some more wood for my fireplace this winter. Got a nice load of oak. So, it's off to split it with the sledgehammer and wedges.

3. Deep breaths don't hurt at all.

4. My throat fells better.

5. My teeth look better.

6. Littering butts no longer seems like an acceptable activity.

7. I don't worry about running off the road because a hot ash just dropped in my lap.

8. My cronic heartburn cleared up.

9. Running to the entryway to huff a butt during an ice storm seems as ridiculous as it actually is.

That's right off the top of my head - I'm sure I could think of more. My best advise: Get some Back-up! Don't try to do it without some people you can call and rant to, and Plan Ahead how you're going to deal with the cravings without going back. Hang in there. It's worth it!

>Well I think you should quit because you're smart and you already know all of the reasons why Todd. Just think about it like any other problem in front of you that you want to solve or get done. You figure out a plan of what steps you need to take to attain your identified goals and follow it. Things will go wrong and you'll have soem setbacks and maybe even need to change the plana bit but you move forward. And don't make exscuses.

Now get going cuz we've got a lot to do here and you aren't getting out of your share of it.

At any rate Ernie, Thanks for asking, I'm doing just fine, and am quite content to just let the days pass one by one now. I'm using Lifesavers to get past the few rough spots, drinking lots of water, doing alot of reading, and just being quite restful in general. I'm suppose to be on vacation for the next two weeks, but I maybe really unemployed. I'm waiting for the phone to ring to let me know either way. Due to the big state-wide tax cuts made by rhe Govoner the schools budget took a big hit, and therefore they are forced to reduce spending, and job eliminations are one of the chosen ways. I was told that my job was "at risk of elimination" a few weeks ago, and that they'd let me know either way in August. I'm suppose to return to work on the 27th of this month, and unless they call me and tell me not too I will.

Either way, I'm just chillin' for now as quite frankly, I really neeed to get caught up on my rest. All I do is go go go, so on this vacation I'm just focusing on resting for a change, for at least one more week anyhow.

I'm at work 6:30 every morning don't get off untill 4:30 and then I have to go home and work. not so much now cause the sun room is finished. but I still need to get 1000 books or more listed and that is a slow task. and then there are the tools and other junk that needs sold. Buisy Buisy Buisy I must get going. I will set books aside as I go thru them for you.

>Yeah, yeah, yeah. ;~) I usually get up at around 6:30, doink about until around 1 p.m., get ready for work, go to work until 10p.m., get home, get in bed around midnight, get up and do it all over again. Sure, there are some nights where I spend most of the time either on the computer,running my mouth, or goodness knows what, but still it can be wearing. ;~)

I got called in yesterday for a meeting, and was info'd that my job had in fact been eliminated, BUT they have something else in mind for me, and that I have to go into the Human Resources office for a meeting at 5:30 this afternoon to discuss it. Seems that my name has been thrown around quite a bit at the school, and they have concluded that they simplly must find something for me because I am simplly "too good of a guy to lose". Sure was good to hear that.
