Last weekends haul

Ken in Sacramento

>I went out to the local flea market this last sunday, not too much of interest but did find a couple items. First was a Stanley #4 with an '02 patent date cast in the base (don't know the type) for $5. Then at another dealer I spotted something yellow, moved in and it was a Lie-Nelson LA block plane for $25.

The Stanley had a broken handle covered with electrical tape, I glued the handle, cleaned the body and blade then ground out a couple of nicks in the blade and sharpened it. Reassembled it and it works very nice. The Lie-Nelson worked fine as it was.

Picture below with shavings.

Must have been repaired by an amatuer, everyone knows 'Duct Tape' is a lot stronger.

>Hi Ken,

Denio's....big flea market. Been there a few times. The place can wear ya out on a hot day. Found a Yankee 1545 breast drill in perfect shape for 20 bucks. I live northwest of Sac about two hour drive in Lake County.

Nice fix on your plane there,

Marv

Nice score, and a fine job on cleaning up the #4 too.

>Wow, Lie-Nielsen at a flea market price. Did I just feel a collective shudder run through the hand tool community?.

Nice find.

I'm sure did Mark, and judging from the silence from the crowd they are also still trying to catch their breaths! ;~)

I cannot believe that LN's are showing up at fleas at bargain prices already. :~)

Ken, I for one HATE you. ;~)
