>Anyone happen to know about this? It's the first time I've seen anything to suggest that at least during some period of time post-war Norris lever caps were plated. Maybe I'm missing reading the photo. But it surprised me.

I'm familiar with the look of lacquer peeling off and that's not what I see.
I guess it's possible to splatter gray paint atop brass to simulate the look of this particular lever cap via a digital image on the internet, but that's not what I think I see.
Who knows. Maybe I'm hallucinating.
