Contact one of the national household movers in your area and ask them if they have "blanket wrap" available. You take the piece to their forwarding center (in your town) and they wrap it and stick it on a truck going through (or to) the destination and it sits at a forwarder at the destination location for pick up by the recipient. Sometimes you can specify home pick-up and delivery, but this is quite a bit more expensive.
I ship furniture from my location to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orange County fairly frequently and for something about the size you're shipping the cost runs approximately $75-125 (without home delivery).

>A gallery I work with uses Plycon and has had great luck. There is also a company that has an ad in the back of woodshipnews, but I don't have an issue handy. Moving companies work like the above poster stated are another good option.
