>Door fitting is where a handplane really shines. I use a #4 to bevel the doors slightly. A slight bevel means a you can use a smaller gap between the doors. Also, I would put stops at the top where they are out of the way. You could bury a rare earth magnet in the stop and one in the door and that would hold them in place. Nice looking project.

>A penny joint all the way around and yes the leading edges shold be beveled for clearance as the doors close. That's a pennt thickness not diameter:-)

>Thanks for the information, now I just need to know if that is an American penny or a Canadian penny. I think historically ours have been a little thinner, but the currency is strengthening and I am sure the thickness must be almost at par... ;)

>Thanks Jim, this project has taken some time and with the doors together the end is in sight. I have been using my hand planes to do the initial fitting and will do the same for the bevel. I am not sure what I will use to hold the doors shut. I bought some magnetic catches, but they are pretty ugly, not that they will be seen but a wood and magnet option might be more elegant. Once the project is finished I will post some photos and let you know which way I went.
