Note that the seller has had TWO people tell him/her that it's a broken plane, and that s/he then says, "was told this is a type 11 stanley missing the front part but i don't know and does not look broken or missing parts.will keep it listed as is.question is posted below.OK I LOOKED AT A #11 LISTED AND IT DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME SHAPE AS THIS ONE ALSO I FOUND STANLEY ON THE TOP LEVER."
>Product ignorance is rampant on ebay. Usually it is not a problem and can lead to bargains when items are misclassified. There are a few things that smell high of fish here. For one, the seller is aware of plane type studies. That would indicate a detailed knowledge Stanley bench planes. He uses the term bullnose correctly. That indicates more detailed knowledge about planes. BUT then he is ignorant of the fact that THIS IS A BROKEN PLANE. Since the plane in question is one of the most common planes on earth, this sudden ignorance is called into question. Then there is the issue of the shipping being a tad high. Perhaps this is an honest seller just trying to make it through the day. I would pass on this item.
