Hand tool storage help

Ernie Miller

>I need some ideas on hand tool storage for the garden. it seems every thing is made of plastic now days and I don't want that. I have a 40X40 formal garden with three benches around the sides and a fountain in the middle. I need some sort of sturage place for some pruning sheers and a trowell or two not much just the things that are used regulary. I need a design that will hang on a fence orset some place out of the way and look almost invisable to store my tools in. any ideas? I got a couple great pictures of an Orial sunday morning why I was having my coffee.

>Western cedar or Eastern red cedar would work well. Around here, cypress is available. At my old house I built a 3'x 2'x 6' shack (for lack of a better word) that I placed under the eave of the garage and I built a slopping roof to allow the water to run off. It had a door and sat on a makeshift floor made with the concrete pillars that are available at the borgs for making decks. I used western cedar which is used here a lot for fences. Because of its shallow depth and position under the eave, it never really got too much rain on it. It looked pretty much like part of the fence.

>The privacy fence is white oak so I will build the storage out of that also. I have a garden shed but it is about 75' away and I want to keep 4-5 tools that I use all the time there close. I set out there in the morning drinking coffee thinking about the day ahead and trim the roses or what ever and like the small tools handy. Might keep a digital camera in there also I missed a good shot of a WoodPecker getting a drink. Might need to make it a little bigger and make room for the coffee pot Got electricity real close.

>Ernie the other thing I've found that works great for all the small tools is a Mail Box you can stick it anywhere around your garden and painted to match whatever you have in the garden.

>I guess I will build a little mail box type thing? I don't know that other thing is way to big Maybe I will just build an end table with a slight slant to the top so the watter dosent settel but the beer does.
