>Finnished baking and waxing the Boat Anchor ( #5c ) so its time to clean up the bolts, screws and such. Under the rust and gunk on the two frog washers I found markings. They are two that were made from rulers ! If I did'nt lurk around here I'd have not known what they were. I feel special today ! Pathetic little life but its all mine ! ( evil cackle ! )

>I've heard that washers like that are not that uncommon. I've never seen one, but have talked to some "real" collectors that have seen enough to assume that Stanley must have used defective scales as washer stock. Kinda interesting, tho.

My first plane was a Stanley 5C type 11 that is still one of my favorite users. Someone before me took time to lovingly tune it. Never examined the washers though, always figured washers were washers were washers.
