Ideal crosscut TPI for 8/4 stock?

>Quick question:
If you needed to crosscut 8/4 stock with a Western-style crosscut saw, is there an ideal TPI to choose?
As a point of comparison, conventional wisdom says that a bandsaw blade should keep about 6-8 teeth in the thickness of a board, so for cutting 8/4 stock = 2" on a bandsaw, you should get a blade that is 3-4 TPI.
And, yes, I realize that there will be other factors, such as the geometry and set of the teeth, but I'm primarily interested in TPI for this question.
