Of course, the coping saw blades I've been using are 12 inches long and are on this saw we call a turning saw, but that is a different story...

I relaxed the rake a bit with a pass (or maybe two) of the file, then test cut. If that is still to agressive, repeat.

I've been very happy with Olson fret saw blades. I notice that sponsor Joel carries their coping saw blades. You might have a discussion w/Joel, who is a straight shooter in re technical features of his wares--set, sharpness, etc.

I was at a symposium and got to hear Allen Breed speak. He was coping out DT waste and someone asked how he was able to do it so quickly. His response was that "any tool that can be made, can be made sharper". So he sharpened his coping saw blades like Dean J does (I do too). I did it just because I was cheap or too lazy to buy new. It isn't easy, but I actually got one (the blade I'm currently using) into my saw vise. The pins at the end get in the way.

But I think its time for a new blade so I'm glad for this thread!
