Shaving horse helper
Dave Mount, NE Minnesota
>While I was working the handle for the adze, I was getting pretty aggravated keeping the handle in place on the shaving horse, particularly as I was working around it -- when I'd start to apply any lateral pressure, it would slip sideways. I have a groove in the underside of the dumbhead I put there for holding chair spindles, but this handle was too big for that. A little light bulb went on and I drilled a couple holes in the ramp and made a removable dowel pin to fit. By putting the work against the dowel pin, it's easy to work at an angle as you're rounding.
I'm certain I'm far from the first to think of this, but I hadn't seen it before and it was such a big help I thought I'd post it here.
Best,
Dave
