Sand Flex blocks

Ernie Miller

>has any one used the Sand Flex blocks for cleaning rusty saws and tools? they are made by Kingspor? they are suposed to gave grit all the way through and just kind of melt away with use. they are said to be more agressive on rust and less on the steel.

>I've used them for cleaning minor rust spots on newer tools or my t*bl*s*w top. They work well. For something really bad, I would scrape with a razor first to save some wear and tear on the blocks.

Sand Flex blocks are good

Charles R. Smith

>Yep, they work. I use them in all sorts of situations, many of which arise because I often have wet wood for turning, and it gets left where it shouldn't. If a Scotchpad (e.g., the gray one, similar to 4-0 steel wool) isn't enough to remove the rust, I grab the Sandflex blocks. I like to finish off with the finest grit block, which gives the surface a nice luster, followed by a bit of wax. Sometimes I will just use one to polish up a tool. These blocks seem to last a long time, in spite of how often I use them.

I like mine

>After about four years of intermittent use, it still fits firmly in the little cardboard sleeve it came in - so the "wearing away" is pretty slow.

>They work well and last forever. I have the medium grit and can't see a use for coarser or finer grits. I use them to give steel a nice "brushed" finish too.
