The roughness of older work
Bill Houghton, Sebastopol, CA
>Adam Cherubini, and others, have been discussing the notion of economy of effort, with particular attention to not wasting time smoothing things that won't be seen. I've briefly* got a piece of furniture from my parents' house that illustrates the concept.
This is a country piece, rather than a Seymour piece. I'm not sure when it was built; perhaps those with a better sense of history than I will have an idea. The picture below is the "face" of the dresser, about 3 feet high by 29" wide.
