>well, a half day. My vacation day got stepped on by business crises, but I still managed to get in early, get all the tops spinning, make some progress, and still check out at lunchtime. After a leisurely lunch with spouse and kitties, I wandered out into the shop to play. Opened the garage door--it is in the 70s and beautiful here. Saw the UPS man in the driveway and he gave me a box with a plane inside. What a nice guy. Got quite a few things knocked out and now I am sitting here with both computers going. Have time to pick the walnut shavings from my tee shirt. Gotta love that shop time. Here is a big NEENER NEENER to those of you stuck in an office somewhere. Picture of a project later.

There'll be no Walnut pick'ns, but it will be shop time. SWMBO is trying to get me to bring lunch to her work, cutting into my shop time. I'm trying to ignore the hints.

The plane

>was a Craftsman combo plane. Nothing special, just a 90% complete plane at a real good price. It will become a donor plane or a recipient plane. Wood is pretty good, so maybe it will be a recipient. Skate was broken, missing cutter holder and screw adjuster. I had a cutter holder, but no screw adjuster.

>I've got one of those, for the same reason. As I remember it is complete. I don't use it much at all. I have a 45, also for the same reason I use ahead of it.

>these plane parts can be quite handy in the shop. I have an extra Stanley #45 body that I keep loaded with a 1/8" cutter. Pretty handy to have around and very little setup. Setup is the huge downside of combination planes. If you pick up some spare parts, you can save lots of time.
