I finished putting tops on two workmate I've had for sometime. The new ones will go to each of my sons.

Someone was talking about assembly tables.

I put wheel on the table in the foreground and will use it as an assembly table. This is the one I replaced with the new one posted below.

I needed to rivet some backet handles and had no place to hang it on the wall. I found a couple more pieces that needed bases. I have to bottle a couple cases of beer tonight, my capper will work a lot better if it stablized.

Note to T.O. couplers are now plumb.

Workmate tops

What do you use for your workmate tops? I've got two, both with pretty ragged tops, and have been considering Ipe or baltic birch ply. The Ipe is attractive because of where I have to store the workmates (in a falling-down barn), but I understand it's a bear to work.

I spent many years using one for a carving table when we lived in the cabin. Thanks for the blast form the past!

Mike it's a B&D Bench Top Work Mate 79-020.

Bill I don't really know, it's some plywood my father had as scrap that he said would work good for them. He had them all cut to size for me, I didn't ask any questions, and besides their going to my sons. One will leave outside and it will rot, the other will hang it on a wall and if his contractor forget his he'll will use it.

Thems some of the older model Wormates. I like them, nice and stable, but dang heavy and unweildy to store. Good work platform tho. I see that you do as I, and that's mount things to block bases, than hold 'em with the workmate jaws. Sure beats a permanet set up for just one thing.

Best watch that tape despenser, I think it's considering suicide by jumping off of the bench. :~O

Nice clean up job.
