Dog Holes Bored

>Well another Evolution has come to a close. when I built my new bench I was debating about putting in dogholes or not, but once I built the Wagon vise I had to at least put in one row. Still I hee-hawed and agonized over it as I didn't want to "swiss-cheese" the top. Well, last week I finally decided that the time had come to lay out the row of 'holes for te Wagon Vise and if I was going to do that, than I might as well put in more, so I got out the measuring tape and went to fiquring placement, with the objective of the fewer the 'holes the better, yet enough to be functional. They are layed out on 11.5" centers, both the length, and across, for a total of 15 holes which seems to be fairly adequare. Of coarse, I put one in the sliding block of the vise as well. I didn't put two holes across from the vise, but I think I eventually will.
It sure is nice to be able to use my holdfasts again, and the Wagon Vise works sooooooooooooooo nice, what a joy to have it is.
As Hank Knight and I where discussing during my visit to his shop, I thought that making these 'holes would be painful, but it really wasn't, and as a matter of fact, with the added versitility they add to the bench it was rather enjoyable.
So c'mon Hank, I've now chopped a huge mortice into ky benchtop, and plugged it full of holes and don't regret it one little bit, so get at Brother. I know you've got a brace!
I'm glad that I agonized over the 'hole placement as I think the final product was worth it. Not to many, not to few, just right.
