One one side of each jaw there seems to be just a dowel for the pivot, BUT, on the other side there seems to be a tightning nut, and that is what is not clear to me. I'm also not clear on weather or not the foot pivots or not.

The only thing I can fiqure is that on the side with the nut there is a hanger screw in the jaw itself, so that it can be tightened up in various positions.?

There was an article in PWW called Cheating at Chairmaking (or something to that effect) a couple of years ago which outlined some plans for a pony...and a travisher, and drilling jigs etc. Really good article and I will try to dig out my copy for you.

I had to dink around, because Pop WW apparently used just "chairmaking" as a keyword for that article (note to Chris Schwarz: hire yourself a true librarian, guys; a well-made index is cross-referenced to the extreme, and I should have been able to find it by "shaving pony," too).
