NOS Japanese tools on ebay *LINK*

Pam Niedermayer - Austin, TX

>Derek Cohen bought a couple of bachi nomi from this seller and pointed me to his/her auctions. Turned out s/he has lots of very interesting chisels, so I bought some ultra short and shinogi at very good prices. Prices lower than I've seen for a couple or three years. Now these aren't absolute top quality, but appear very good and useable. Those of you looking for mortising, bench, dovetail, and/or short chisels may want to take a look.

S/he's in the UK, so shipping is high, but Jinn_him only charges actual costs. Just be sure and ask the cost of buying several ahead of time.

I haven't received mine yet, just completed the order yesterday, will let you know vis a vis quality as soon as I do.

>Pam,

We used to get those mini chisel sets with the cloth logo on the red oak handles. Found them to be good. Not as expensive as the Iyoroi mini chisel sets which I mentioned the other day.

It is nice to have the very small sizes, 1.5mm 3mm 4.5mm in the short chisels, less worry about breaking blades, quite strong enough to tap with a metal hammer.

I am intrigued to know who this seller is?

best wishes,

David

>The best deal might, unless one is after mortising chisels, might be the block plane blade if one had the right plane. 10 bucks for a laminated balde takes me back. I;ve never been disappointed with the ones I bought from LeeValley or Materpiece tools, back in the late 70s, and early 80s. And these blades can make nice Krenov style planes also.
