Adjusting a plane
John Pappas
>Years ago I read an article that suggested viewing a plane from the back of the plane when adjusting the iron. The writer pointed out that by time you could see the iron, when viewing from the front, it was already advanced too far. However, when viewed from the rear, aiming the plane at a light source, the iron can be seen as soon as it rises above the sole. For me, it work well. But most, if not all, articles you see today show the user viewing from the front. So, I wonderif I am missing something.....or is everyone else missing something.
