eBay protocol question

>I posted some hex wrenches for sale last week (I'm not an experienced eBay seller, gang; this is about the third time I've tried it), and thought it would close today, but miscounted by one day: it closes tomorrow, mid-day. The trouble is that we're leaving tomorrow morning for three days away from technology. It seems I have two choices:

a) revise the text to let people know that I'll be in touch Monday, or

b) not mention it, and let the buyer wonder until Monday.

The first seems more courteous, but I wouldn't want to do anything to reduce the attractiveness of the offer (which is not about to make me rich, unless the six people who have it on their watch list are planning to jump in at the last minute). What are folks' opinions?

I'd let them know, because I always appreciate knowing, and 3 days' wait with no communication is a long time IME. But you don't have to make a big deal of it. Maybe down under payment, just add one short sentence to the effect that you'll be in touch with the winning bidder on Monday. Plus, if you don't do it, you'll be second guessing yourself all weekend and getting your stomach in a knot that maybe you should have. Tell em and forget it is my advice.

I once won a two stoned handcrank grinder from a seller called alwayslookingone, and waited 11 days for an invoice. One the 11th day I gave him a Negative feedback for lack of response, in which the next day he left me a Negative, for what I don't know. Says he was "out of town". Yeah right, I won that grinder for cheap, and I suspect he got a better offer for it elsewhere.

Best to info the winner if you can is my opinion.

>I'm with Willie on this one just put a word in the shipping and e-mail them as soon as possable. if you are accepting paypal the payment will be there when you get home most likely. drop the item in mondays mail and every one will be happy. if you do not accept paypal make sure you address is in your preferances so eBay can let them know your address. and make sure that you have the postage in the listing. if they are wrenches I'm sure that you can fit quite a few in a flat rate invelope unless they are more than 12-13 inches long and that cost is $4.05 no matter the weight. I lake to make a card board liner for the invelopes. fold a peice of card board over so you have an invelope jsut smaller than the flat rate fill it with your stuff addd padding if needed tape real well address it stuff it in the flat rate address that and ship it. No real chance of the flat rate breaking open with heavy items that way. I used to squirt a little glue on each side of the liner to make sure but had a buyer complaine that it was almost impossable to open the package. Nothing broke or lost this way. you can fit a #4 plane taken apart in one which is good if you are shipping to Austrailia or out of the country.
