Knowledge hiding in plain sight.
Chuck Nickerson
>A recent article in PWW on sawing technique explained using a board's reflection on the saw to square a cut. It's wonderful; after 52 years I finally got to show my Dad something he didn't know. Last night when I pulled my copy of "Old Ways of Working Wood" by Alex W. Bealer off the shelf, I noticed an illustraion on the dust jacket that clearly shows the technique. A pencil is marking a board by drawing along a saw blade, and the reflection drawn on the saw blade shows the straight line of reflection to board. Yet I find no mention of the trick in the book. what other knowledge/techniques/tricks are hiding in plain sight? Or did everyone but me already know this trick?
