O/T Google Earth
Todd O. Cronkhite Maine Native, Presently Away
>Last week the computer guru at work loaded Google Earth into my computer, I than came home and downloaded a free version of it onto my home computer, and now I am an addict to it.I have been exploring my area of Maine for hours and hours for the past week or so. If you have yet to discover it I urge you to do so as it is quite fascinating. I have followed river, railtracks, power lines, roads, etc, etc, etc,
The thing I like the best about it is that not only can you rotate the screen, but you can also take it from the birdseye view to a horizontal plane, which really makes the landscape come alive.
This is not in real time, but taken from satelites I assume and are only about a year old. You cannot zoom in to the point of seeing great details, but still it isn't to shabby. I can see where my childhood home stood.
Check it out if you get a chance.
I hopeing one day they'll either have better zoom in or even better real time, but for now this will do.
