Sightings is misleading

>There are good reasons to plant trees but panting trees will have marginal long term effect on atmospheric carbon dioxide levels unless after they are grown they are buried in some anerobic environment where they will stay forever and maybe make coal or oil. The planet is not covered 1000' feet deep in tree mulch because wood decays and oxidizes and turnes back into cabon dioxide and water. I don't know if a forest temporarily fixes more carbon dioxide per acre-year than grass or weeds but I suspect the difference is not huge and I would place my bet on grass being better.
While I am on this topic I wish the Sightings would stay related to woodworking.
