With a belt grinder it's all good anyway, not that I have really bothered, but I could see where it might be an issue though I can't remember it ever having been since I measure off guages and chisel widths anyway.

That's what I was wondering. I thought that the AI chisels were imperial sizes (that's what the catalogues indicate), but I don't recall them being mentioned in the thread about metric vs. imperial chisels.

Wow, very fast delivery! So, after a brief post-work session (who needs happy hour when you've got new tools?) with the Ashley Iles 1/4" chisel, I think the AI chisels will be the right thing for me. I guess I should have also ordered one in standard length to compare. At any rate, I'm happier with the weight, balance, and handle shape than I am with the Kirschen.

P.S. the rasps are of course awesome, and how nice to have something especially for the southpaw. I've only ever used very rough utility rasps of poor quality and also some very heavily used Nicholsons we have at our school's shop, so these are going to be a treat.

P.P.S. I'm missing NY these days -- one of my favorite times of year in the City...
