>Has anyone ever heard of a factory nickel plated Stanley No.1 plane? The seller says that Stanley nickel plated some planes for trade show apearances. I have never heard of this just thought it was interesting.

Be aware that repo no. 1's were made and maybe one was nickle plated to go along with the "show" story....Don't know. To me it wouldn't make sense for a company to nickle plate thier wares for a trade show because you would think they would want thier mechandise to look like it does when it is sold normaly...again just speculating now....Todd

>I was speaking with my rust hunting competitor about this the other day, and his theory is that back in the 50's or so home electroplating kits where commonly sold to home handymen and this plane may of been a victim of one of them. Being of more advanced age than I he remembers the electroplating era, so to me, this is a pretty good theory.
