Putting the image on the lid was one of the more trying parts of this project. Who knows why but I had to download an updated driver from Epson...it had worked ok before...so the scanner portion of my CX5400 printer/scanner/copyer would scan the image from a color print. Finally scanned the image in black and white and printed it on some special "ink-jet-decal" paper. Sprayed the image with Krylon acrylic crystal clear...a procedure I had done before. When I sprayed the second coat of Krylon the dark images bloomed into patches of bright yellow??? must be some kind of chemical reaction.

Finally switched to spraying a printed image with Minwax fast-drying polyurethane clear satin...several coats. I painted the left side and bottom of the lid with white latex where the dark portions of the image would appear...giving a light backgroud for the image. Soaked the image in water for ten minutes, sprayed the lid with Minmax, slide the image/decal of the paper onto the lid and pressed out any bubbles.

It is probably browser/OS/video-card-etc dependent but I find I get a clearer image if I right-click an image and select "view original image". Maybe that is why you thought there was flour on the lid.

>Scott here is a close up of the timers, there is a 0.5 inch magnet in the back of this piece of walnut. The ivory ring is a washer I embedded into the side of the box. You take the timers off the box, turn it upside down for the timers to start and then stick it back onto the washer. Making this block to hold the timers was the most difficult part of this project for me...first time I had used a brace and bit and drilling the 5/8in holes for the timers took a few trys.
