Boston Lie-Nielsen Show

>just got back from the Friday installment of the Boston Lie-Nielsen tool show. In one corner of the hall, Michel Auriou was tapping away at a steel blank. A bench and wood was available to anyone wishing to give one of his rasps a spin. In another corner, Konrad Sauer was displaying a number of his handmade planes. Drop dead gorgeous stuff and a really nice guy. Here is your chance to try out one of his planes. Harrelson Stanley was there with the Shapton glass-backed ceramic sharpening stones and his hand-held computer interfaced 200x microscope. Very sharp blades, but an expensive system. Lie-Nielsen had an extensive display of planes, saws, chisels, and a number of plane soles from the various stages of production (rough casting to finshed plane, and stages in between). With a number of workbenches available, I would guess that virtually every tool was available for testing. I was particularly interested in the Sauer & Steiner planes. I am hoping that Konrad's video documenting the steps in his production sequence will make it to his website.
