I am guessing that those high bidders for than LN box didn't read the fine print. Darn - when I sold my Clifton #5 in Wood Central's classifieds I gave the buyer the mint condition box. I have to start thinking ahead on that stuff!

* I certainly am no genuis, and don't profess to be, so for folks to do something dumb enough for me to say "that's stupid" they must be doing something really dumb. you'll never catch me standing in line for even 1 second to buy a video game that's for sure. why would I want to buy something that is going to promote sitting on my arse AND killing my brain?

Perhaps if these people had spent morte time reading in their youth they'd be able to comprehend what "No plane, only the box" means eh?

Sure, he stated clearly it was just the box, but also said it was high quality, etc., quite silly stuff. A big bold THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE PLANE would be more honest. I think he was either a) having a bit of fun or b) trying to scam while "being honest", like people who always are trying to finds some technicality in the law to exploit.

P.S. a couple years back I contacted a computer dealer to re-sell a computer for me and was told that the original box in good condition added $50 to the price. So it doesn't seem ridiculously out of line for someone to sell a box on eBay.

I suppose he could of simply said, "This is an LN box", but than again I can see that by merely looking that the picture.

Paul, I can understand the language barrier problem, but than again, that's why I don't go to foriegn language e-bays.

I sell alot on the ebay and you really have to make stuff VERY plain because many bidders just don't read the description very well. Even though I think I do a good job describing everything I still get questions like what is the width of this chisel for an auction where I say in the heading it is a "1/2 in.Stanley Everlast" as well as saying it again in the description. You can say "no rust or pitting" all you want but sombody will still email you asking if thier is any "rust or pitting"

... If you sell somthing in rough condition you always run the big risk that even if you describe it correctly the person buying it will not think it is that bad. I once had problims with a guy who bid [very high] on a No. 2 plane that i had described as being "very rusted and pitted" and who emailed me after the auction that he was upset because the plane was...yup you guessed it..."Rusted and Pitted"!

...I have sold knives with no sheaths and never showed a sheath or mentioned a sheath in the auction and the guy wants to know where his sheath is.Have sold a pair of tongs and show a photo of one tong and described one tong and still people want to know where the other one "of the pair" is. I have to tell them it is like "Pair of pants"

...After the auction I always tell the high bidder VERY IMPORTANT ! to include with payment what it is for and everyweek of course I get a check with not even a hint of what it is for.

I don't want to say you have to make your auction "idiot prrof" but you do have to make it very plain so everybody should be able to know what they are bidding on......Todd
