A little OT- anvils

>I was looking at some machines that a local cabinetmaker/builder was unloading quick and he had an anvil that he wants to get rid of. I don't know anything about them but it looked cool and I know blacksmiths need them and the good old ones are tough to find. I said how much and he said $300, which I thought was high but he explained that this is a tool steel anvil (not cast iron), 173 pounds. He said he bought it for $700 5-6 years ago. I thought maybe someday I might want to try blacksmithing so if this is worthy maybe I will pick it up. He needs to vacate a leased space ASAP so hes motivated if I take it this weekend. Thanks for any and all input.
