Record 60-1/2 Blade Replacement

Ken

>I have a Record 60-1/2 block plane with the 1-5/8" blade and 7/16" slot. I want to replace the stock blade with a 1/8" thick Lie-Nielsen Stanley 60-1/2 replacement blade. I called Lie-Nielsen and they didn't know if it would fit the Record or not. The question on the Lie Nielsen blade is the is the length and location of the 7/16" slot and the location and size of the 11 adjustment slots.

Has anyone tried this blade in their Record and did it fit?

Thanks!

Ken

>The Record 60-1/2 takes the same blade as the 09-1/2 and the same as the old Stanley 9-1/2's - the newer Stanley 9-1/2 is different. The Sheffield made Record irons are not too bad really - the recent chinese made irons are useless

>Hi Ken. Ron Hock has replacement blades to fit the Record block plane and they are a great blade. I have a few dozen planes with Hock blades in them and they are a very high quality thick blade that will be far better than the original. YOu can get on Ron's website or give hima call he is a great guy.
