Mr. VanCleave- plane iron question

I am looking at Starret 01 tool steel which comes in both air hardening and oil hardening types, and don't know which one I need. This may be an ignorant question, as I am a real steel neophyte, but I really want to get it right.

In Link's original post, he indicated: "They will be O 1 Starrett steel. "
O1 means oil hardening. Air hardening is designated A2. If you specify O1 tool steel, it will be the right stuff.
I have a bunch of O1 plane iron blanks that I will be sending to Link also.

>I guess the thing that was confusing me is when I did a search for 01 tool steel both air hardening and oil hardening types came up, with no distinction that I could see. I guess I am not too old to learn something, and I learned something pretty basic today. Now my steel is on the way, and I have started a relationship with MSC that will probably cost me a fortune over my lifetime :)
