I saw this #112 reach lofty heights yesterday and just now noticed it got the hammer at $425.75. Good pictures are worth a thousand words ... and about three hundred bucks.
I got curious what $425 works out to a pound, so took my #112 down from a shelf to weigh it and nearly dropped it on the floor.
I did first check for weight in my pristine, hardbound copy of Walter (I noticed a copy of cheesy softcover edition for $300 on Ebay yesterday too), which was a splurge buy off a "new books" shelf for $40 some years ago.
The #112 weights 3 pounds 1 ounce, which works out to nearly $150 a pound. I just checked silver bullion which is going for around $11 an ounce, so this #112 didn't quite reach it's weight in solid silver.
Some of you guys better start appraising your stuff and getting your fire insurance agent over for coffee and a review of your coverage.
That, or notify the wife, who'll be able to help you with a liquidation sale.
